Keep a stock of stitched gifts in the closet, ready for that last minute present.  Rather than risk ruining a ready made garment, try embroidering and appliquéing the design to the project.

Layer two pieces of bridal illusion tulle (in a color matching the background fabric) between two layers of water-soluble stabilizer.  Criss-cross two pieces of tear-away stabilizer on the bottom of the sandwich and hoop.  Embroider the design*, remove all stabilizer and trim tulle, leaving 1/16” border around design.  Appliqué to the project using satin stitch or free motion straight stitch.
