The color image below can be used to build a realistic 3-D scale model of a very ornate hand car house!

Once you have a good color print, photocopy the page onto heavy cardstock so that the area inside the tick marks is 7" x 9 1/2". This will make an HO scale model. For other gauges you can scale your copy up or down.

Cut out, scribe and bend the paper following the linetypes shown in the key. For best results use a sharp hobby knife and a metal straight edge. Glue together using a thin, even coat of ordinary white glue.

This sample is from the Three Oaks Depot kit. The hand car house was created to fill some empty spaces on the color sheets, and in reality, probably never existed. However, the orange brick, cut stone, terra cotta, leaded glass windows, and slate roof are just like the depot. The depot itself still stands in Three Oaks, MI and is open as a bicycle museum. The building is beautifully restored and well worth a visit.

Good luck with your kit. Quality may vary depending on hardware, software, and type of paper used. Kits sold by Looks Like are scale images in realistic colors, on top quality card stock and have complete illustrated instructions.
