SPRING LAKE, MI
Depot Antiques, Spring Lake MI, July 2003
Spring Lake, MI Depot; July 2003

Spring Lake is just east of Grand Haven, and was on the line built by the Detroit, Grand Haven and Milwaukee RR and operated for many years by the Grand Trunk. A carferry operated between Grand Haven and Milwaukee until 1933. In that year the Grand Trunk moved its carferry operation to Muskegon. The line through Spring Lake was downgraded, but still had passenger service in the form of a daily except Sunday mixed train. It lasted until 1955. Tracks through Spring Lake have been removed.

The depot itself, has been moved twice. It was first moved to a storage lot, near an auto junkyard just east of town . In 1999, the depot was moved again, closer to the road, M-104.  The depot got a  large pole-barn addition on the east end  as part of a project to convert it into antique store, Depot Antiques.

The building is in great shape, probably better than when the railroad owned it. The building was changed very little; even the interior still has the old board walls, cieling, and ticket window.
