03-06-2004 Damn, this car is sooooo fun to drive. The torque is just right for daily driving, and the tall 6 speed allows me to keep the revs low for good gas mileage but still have some decent acceleration. So far I've kept it under 4000 rpm and I love it. Can't wait to start running it up near redline and hear the variable intake manifold, but I want to get a few hundred miles on the clutch and motor first.

03-01-2004 With the lease on my Ford Ranger almost up, I started shopping around for a new daily driver. The truck has served it's purpose well the past 3 years, but I wanted to get a 5-door hatchback that will hold more people, groceries, and still fit my snowboard. I rarely used the truck bed to haul things, and I don't need to tow trailers anymore.

I ran across a 2003 Focus SVT at Conlon-Collins Ford in Crystal Lake and got a great deal on it. Although I had reservations about getting a manual trans for my year-round daily driver, I really like the 6-speed. The gears are tall, and although it's not good for all-out acceleration, it makes for some smooth street driving.

This car is a PERFECT match for what I wanted: a well-rounded, excellent handling car with good gas milage, useable rear seats and storage, and it's just quick enough to be fun. It won't ever see any mods and I probably will never bother draggin it, although I think I may auto-x this car instead of my Eclipse, it handles that damn well.
