Colorado/Utah 1996- mostly Utah!
to some pictures of Colorado's longest cave- in the Cave Gallery...

Near Moab, Utah
Theresa Carbrey at Butler Wash- a friend of ours took us to this site, which is actually a BLM scenic overlook, inaccessable at first glance. We know the way now.
Anasazi kitchen at Butler Wash- Utah.
The ceiling is black from accumulated soot,
and the worn grooves in the lower right are
metate marks from grinding corn!
Hal Canyon- Colorado River, Utah. We camped at a roadside pull-off; Any morning that you see something like this is a good one!
In the Fiery Furnace- Arches National Park, Utah. This area is so maze-like that the Park Service allows only ranger-guided trips; it might be 1 mile by 2 miles, but they used to have a fatality in there almost yearly.
Tree root detail- Fiery Furnace
Tree- Fiery Furnace
A microcosm in a pool of water- Fiery Furnace. The tracks are from the movement of water-striders.
In Lavender Canyon- Utah
Lavender Canyon
We weren't alone in the canyon, either!
In the Henry Mountains- Utah. Ed Abbey liked this place- so do I.
Sunset over the Henrys- I'll be back.
