Possible Photo of Jarret Morse

Cousin Merilyn Pope found this picture with other family photos. It had
been identified on the back by someone as "Grandpa Moss". She does not know who
wrote "Grandpa Moss" on the back. Therefore, we can't be certain it is a photograph
of Merilyn's Grandpa Jarret Morse. It could be some other relation's "Grandpa Moss".
Photography was not available to the common man in America until the mid-1840s, and
even then it was not readily available except in big cities, first in Europe and then
in America. Daguerreotypes (an image produced on a silver-coated copper plate) were the
only form of popular photography available when Jarret was alive, having been introduced in
France in 1839. Peak years were 1852-1854. Jarret died in 1844. It's not impossible,
but it is unlikely, that this is an image of Jarret Morse. Further, Merilyn's
photo is a modern reprint made from another image, so we don't know the composition of
the original photo, be it a daguerreotype (silver-coated copper plate 1839-1865),
an ambrotype (negative image produced on a glass plate 1854-1865), or a tintype (after 1855).
IF WE COULD LOCATE THE ORIGINAL IMAGE, WE WOULD BE ABLE TO DATE THE PHOTOGRAPH.
DOES ANYONE KNOW THE WHEREABOUTS OF THE ORIGINAL IMAGE? CAN ANYONE IDENTIFY THE MORSE GENTLEMAN IN THIS PHOTO?
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO WROTE "GRANDPA MOSS" ON THE BACK?
