HISTORY OF HOLZ CONSTRUCTION
On March 1, 1948 George F. Holz
founded a small construction company with three core
values: quality craftsmanship, customer satisfaction, and honesty.
The name of that company was George F. Holz General Contractors.
Today, the name has changed to Holz Construction Company, but those three
core values are still the cornerstone of the company. They have helped
Holz
Construction Company to become one of McHenry County’s premier commercial
and industrial contractors.
George F. Holz General Contractors was founded as
an agricultural and residential contractor. In the early 1950’s,
the company began to take on commercial and industrial projects.
In 1971, George F. Holz General Contractors incorporated and became known
as Holz Construction Company. In 1972, with a Civil Engineering degree
from the University of Illinois and three years of industrial experience,
George’s son, Ken Holz, came to work for the company.
Soon
thereafter in 1974, Holz Construction Company became a Cuckler pre-engineered
metal building dealer. When STAR Building Systems bought Cuckler
in 1987, Holz Construction Company followed STAR’s rich tradition and became
a Star Building Systems dealer.
Since 1980, when George retired, the company has
been under the leadership of Ken Holz, who serves today as President.
Ken brought with him his father's three core values: quality craftsmanship,
customer satisfaction, and honesty. Those three values remain the
cornerstone of the company and have helped propel Holz Construction Company
to the forefront of commercial and industrial construction in McHenry County.
