Russell C. Wirbicki is a graduate of the DePaul University College of Law. From1991 to1996 he represented over 100 mortgage lenders in a wide variety of real estate related matters, with one of the largest foreclosure lawfirms in Illinois. in 1996 he founded the Horizon Legal Center, a non-profit legal clinic dedicated to helping homeowners avoid foreclosure.

He is the author of Alternatives to Foreclosure: What Housing Counselors Lawyers and Homeowners Need to Know and numerous other related articles. Additionally, he has conducted workshops and given presentations on issues related to real estate and foreclosure prevention for The City of Chicago, The Chicago Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and others.
