The big fish are called pacus. If you look closely, you can see some green and gold severums as well as a parrot fish and some silver dollars(fish that is).

(PACUS) Fresh water species, with a slender and oval shaped body. It looks somewhat like the small piranha, however it has indeed nothing in common. There are about 20 species of Pacu in Brazil, and the largest specimens may be 80 cm ( 31.2 in.) long and weigh up to 20kg ( 44 pounds). These fishes eat almost everything and are frequently caught under trees whose fruit fall into the water. Its back is dark gray and its belly side golden-yellow. It is considered a quite sporting fish, and furthermore has an exquisite flesh. Geographical distribution: Rivers on all of the Brazilian territory. By means of fish nurseries also in reservoirs, lakes and dams. Angling sites: River beds, during the dry season; during overflow season, rivers and bordering lagoons. Angling seasons: All year round, especially during the overflowing season. Tackle: Average and heavy material, reel with rod. Line : 0,45 to 0,70 mm ( 0,017 to 0,027 in.). Hooks ( special) : 5/0 to 8/0 ( Mustad ref.: 92676). Battue mode, angling with a bamboo rod and a (0,80 to 1,00 mm)( 0.031 to 0.039 in.) line, the same size as the rod, is very sporting. It is recommended to use a small steel tie. Baits: Crab, fresh water prawns, and filet or slices of fish such as the curimbatá and piau; fruits (jenipapo, melância-do-pacu, laranjinha). At the battue system tucum slices and dough pellets are often used. Synonyms: caranha, pacamão, pacu-açu, pacu-caranha, pacu-guaçu, pacu-peva.

(PARROT FISH) The Red Parrot Cichlid, also called the Blood Parrot, is not to be mistaken as the Parrot Cichlid (Hoplarchus Psittacus), which is greenish colored and not very attractive or popular. The Red Parrot is a man-made fish. This means that it does not, and could not occur naturally. The parentage is not known for sure. Reports range from: 1) Red Devil (cichlasoma erythraeum) & Gold Severum (cichlasoma severum) 2) Red Devil & Green Severum 3) Red Devil & Quetzel (cichlasoma synspilum). No information is available on this fish probably due to the fact that it is not a true "breed", and there are apparently certain "trade secrets" as to it's origin. One of the goals of this website is my attempt to find the answer to this question. ANATOMY The Red Parrot has a mouth resembling a beak, thus the name "Parrot". It is bright orange-red and oddly shaped. Some of the complications include a deformed spine (worse in some than in others), a malformed swim bladder which causes an almost continual need to swim to stay afloat, a deformed mouth which leads to difficulty of eating, and until now, an assumed inability to reproduce. In spite of all of this, it is a very attractive and docile fish that can holds it's own in a community tank.

This is the largest pleco(plecostomas) we have. His nickname is "The Monster".
