After years of whining
about needing a new bike, I finally choked up the cash for a new
ride. I now have a '98 Trek 6500SHX, a huge improvement over my
bargain basement Giant Acapulco.

Life is good. I've really been giving it a good thrashing lately, and it refuses to give up. A huge improvement over the Giant. It's much more maneuverable and climbs wickedly. Of course I'll need to make a few changes, such as a new front derailleur, clipless pedals and eventually a better fork; This is still a choice bike for around $600-675.
But
