Subject: Paxson family member
My name is Carolyn Louise Paxson Allen. Allen being my married name. I
have two male Paxson cousins but they have no children. Hence the
Paxson name will end with this generation. I am the 11th generation
(group no. 11) starting with James as the first. We branch off at group
no. 3. Yours ancestors were from the first son, Joseph, of Thomas and
Jane (Canby) Paxson and mine were from the second son, Benjamim, who
married Deborah Taylor. Their first son, Timothy, married Ruth Johnson
in 1790. Their first son, Edward, of Philadelphia married Lucy Ann
Long. Their first son, William Johnson Paxson, married Ann Lenwell
Depuy in 1851, in Philadelphia. Their son, Curtis, married Mary Eliza
String in 1878, in Philadelphia. Their only son, William Benjamin
Paxson, my grandfather, married Edna Devereaux of Cresson, Pa and moved
to Wilkes-Barre, PA and then to Kingston, PA. My father, Robert
Devereaux Paxson, was the fifth child. He married Dorothy Almira
Shaneyfelt in 1946 in Fort Wayne, IN. He resides there still.
I did hours of research at the Allen Co. Public Library Jan-May 1996.
(That library has the 2nd largest geneology section in the US). You can
imagine the excitement I felt when I typed in "geneology, Paxson family"
and got your Web site! Thanks for taking the time to do it. At the
moment I reside in Kingston, Jamaica.
I hope this was not a bore to you. Thanks again.
Carolyn
