CHELSEA, MI

Chelsea is just west of Ann Arbor, on the old Michigan Central main line. The present depot was designed in Stick Style by the architectural firm of Mason and Rice and built in 1880. The design features triple-gabled bay windows on both ends of the building. One of the two earlier depots was destroyed when vandals cabled the depot to a departing train. Tracks are still in use as Amtrak's Detroit-Chicago line.

The depot was restored in the 1980s and serves as a transportation center and museum for the village of Chelsea. It is located east of M-52 in the heart of Chelsea. In the mid-1990s, a model railroad club began meeting here.
