AMASA, MI

Amasa, MI Depot, August 1999

Amasa is along the railroad between Channing and Ontonagon, in Michigan's upper peninsula. The line was built in the early 1880's by the Ontonagon and Brule River RR. This land grant railroad received 34,000 acres of federal land for building the railroad. In 1890 the railroad was sold to the Milwaukee & Northern, which became part of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific, commonly known as the Milwaukee Road.

In 1980 the Milwaukee Road sold its Michigan lines to the Escanba & Lake Superior RR. The Amasa depot is still owned by the railroad, but unused.
